AVEENO ACTIVE NATURALS
March 28, 2014
This is a compensated campaign in collaboration with AVEENO and Latina Bloggers Connect. All opinions are my own.
For today's post I want to share with you all a couple of amazing all-natural and homemade recipes, but this time I am talking about natural face masks and body scrubs. I have teamed up with Aveeno Active Naturals and Latina Bloggers Connect to tell you a bit about the secrets my mother and grandmother shared with me when I was younger. Ever since I can remember my mother was always on top of me about taking care of my skin. One of her secrets? Oatmeal and brown sugar.
I clearly remember my mom showing me how to make a oatmeal facial mask. So easy and so healthy. All you need is oatmeal and warm water, you mix it up until it has a soft texture. Then continue by exfoliating it onto your face in circular motions for about 2-3 minutes, then rinse. And did you know that oatmeal is actually a anti-irritant and to me, the best kept beauty secret as it has five vital elements that are also found in healthy skin; proteins, anti-oxidants, enzymes, vitamins and lipids. Tip: use cold water when rinsing your face, this will help close your pores.
And lastly another of my favorite beauty home made recipes.... the brown sugar body scrub. For this you will need brown sugar, warm water and a bit of honey. Mix it up into a creamy scrub and voila! Continue on to scrubbing your back and shoulders and then finalize by rinsing as you normally would in the shower. This is my favorite all-natural scrub. It smells delicious and it is so healthy and smoothing. Here is a minute long video narrated by Jennifer Aniston, it is quite interesting to see how oats come from the farm to our everyday lives. It is amazing to see the abundance of ingredients found in nature to make our skin beautiful in a natural way. We have the best and most natural way to be healthy inside and out right at our fingertips.

MONOCHROMATIC STYLE
March 27, 2014
Happy Thursday my loves!
For today's look I wanted to show you a super casual but trendy look: the monochromatic style. I personally love it and really need to wear it more often! It is so easy and so laid back. I vamped it up by adding a fun envelope clutch from Lulu's and statement necklace. I wore this last Sunday for a quick run to the mall and then a kids birthday party with my family. This necklace I am wearing here is one of my new spring pieces, one of my favorite. It is very different and super detailed. And as you can see even Lola made a little cameo.

Hola chicas/os! Feliz jueves!

FABKIDS SPRING EVENT
March 26, 2014
This past Saturday my family and I attended a super cute event, my first one with Ben! It was a FabKids.com event hosted by blogger mommy Alicia Gibbs of Chica Fashion. The event was held at Time 2 Party in Montclair, it was a fun place for the kids, my son and niece had a blast. There was everything from bubbles to carnival games, music and delicious cupcakes! We got to look through a few of the FabKids outfits and I am so happy I attended because I just placed my first order a week ago and I am so impressed with the amazing quality and super stylish designs, what is best is there prices! I can't wait to receive my first package. I love dressing up my boy and he will be making little cameos here and there this spring/summer. I was so happy to attend as a family, my husband also came with us. I can't wait to do more of these kids events, now that Ben is a little older he really enjoys things like this as well as taking outfit pics like his mama! Here are some of the pics I was able to snap from our fun and stylish morning.
Here is the adorable Naliya aka Mini Chica Fashion, she is too cute for words! And below is the event hostess Alicia, thank you for having us Alicia! We had a great time. Your kids are precious!

PRINT PANTS FOR SPRING
March 25, 2014
I am so happy spring is here (even if it doesn't feel like it in the East Coast) and this passed Saturday I wore one of my favorite pants, these super chic peacock print pants! They are comfortable, high waisted and just fab. I decided to mix prints and textures for a fun look which I love, and it was perfect for a kids event I attended that morning. The lace sweater and color block sandals made the look super fun. The event was for FabKids and it was our first event as a family so that was fun. I will be posting about the event later this week so stay tuned!

ARROZ VERDE | GREEN RICE
March 20, 2014
Hola! Happy 1st day of spring!
Today I wanted to bring you a super quick and delicious alternative to white rice: green rice. I made this delicious arroz verde last Sunday. We went out to dinner on Saturday night and had some steak left over... So I made my favorite type of rice. I don't know about you but I get tired of the same kind of food too often and white rice is one of those things that really need to be revamped often. Here is an easy + quick rice idea.

I don't know about you but I get tired of the same kind of food too often and white rice is one of those things that really need to be revamped often. Here is an easy + quick rice idea.
You will need:
Green Pepper
Cilantro
Scallions
Sour Cream
Once you have your white rice cooked and ready, simply blend about 2 tablespoons of sour cream with about a 1/4 of your medium size green pepper, add cilantro to taste. Voila you have your green sauce. Mix this into your rice and add chopped up scallions and you're all done! TIP: you may also add a feta style cheese to the sauce while blending for a thicker consistency, which I always do for extra yummy taste. There are several ways to make my green rice, this is just what I had in my fridge that day! I hope you guys like my foodie posts. I love to share little ideas for your dinner meals. Have a great Thursday and don't miss tomorrow's post for a giveaway valued at $300!

This is by far one of my favorite tops ever. It is a TopShop pearl encrusted deep-v-back exquisite blouse! I got it a couple of years ago and have only worn it a couple of times because you have to wear it right. It is so perfect and delicate. Super feminine and so glam yet understated. I paired it with my golden silk pants from Zara and added a fun lip to bring a little sexy to the look. I am so in love with all the gorgeous shades for this spring, which include all sorts of pastels but also very glam neutrals, like the once I am wearing here.

RICE, BEANS AND CARNE ASADA
March 13, 2014
One meal that I think all Latin cultures can agree on loving is Rice and Beans with Steak! I die for a delicious home cooked meal. And one of the meals at my house this week was just that. I made white rice, beans and carne asada with maduros. Riquisimo! Today I simply want to give you easy tips on what to put on your beans and how to make your steak for a delicious quick and simple but super tasty meal.
I season my steak with soy sauce, mustard, garlic, paprika and adobo. Then I fry my steak in water, just about two teaspoons of water on your frying pan to boil. Wait until the water is hot and is evaporating... cook for about 2 minutes on each side. And you carne asada is ready! A super simple way to eat healthier!
For my beans, I usually use canned red pinto beans by Goya. I drain the beans and rinse them. Then I add tomato sauce and a but of water to the pot of beans and start cooking on medium heat. I add sofrito (made at home, which I will chat about soon, on the different sofrito ingredients you can use) and also a little pack of Sazon Goya sin Achiote (Without Annatto) for extra flavor. When the beans are almost cooked, I add my Ecuadorian magic ingredient: a teaspoon of milk! And my beans come out delicioso! And that my friends, is your easy Spanish meal. A super simple and easy dinner idea which my family and I love. For a little bit of fusion add plantano maduros for a delicious mix of flavors! My husband love this traditional meal.

BAN BOSSY, BE A LEADER, BE A BOSS
March 12, 2014
I want to share Ban Bossy with you all. I read about it this week, it is a movement to ban the word "bossy" when referring to girls and women. We are labeled as "bossy" yet boys/men are labeled as "leaders. This sends the wrong message to young girls and subconsciously we are taught that we cannot be leaders or have an opinion that matters. The word "bossy" just has a negative tone to me. Almost, like it is wrong or something to be ashamed of. And though I do not have a daughter (yet) this cause resonated with me. As a woman in 2014 I am proud to say we are definitely making a movement in this world and I would like to keep that going by supporting causes like Ban Bossy, to spread the word and teach our young girls that we too can be leaders and bosses and have our own opinions because they do matter. They always have and they always will, it's true what Beyonce said... we run the world, girls! So I take the pledge because "I AM NOT BOSSY, I AM THE BOSS" - and you too can take the pledge by visiting: BAN BOSSY.

We wanted to do something a little different for the blog, especially now that the weather is getting gorgeous here on the East Coast. It was a beautiful Sunday and I wore this look for lunch with my boys. A super detailed, feminine and polished outfit for a fun day out. I paired florals with embellishments and detailed jewelry for a casual spring look for any woman, mom or not.
