STYLE ESSENTIAL: THE SCARF
 Dear LBTC Readers,

Want to know how to easily breathe new life into a boring outfit and affordably try out trendy colors and patterns? Follow the lead of style icons such as Jackie O, Grace Kelly, and Audrey Hepburn and add a scarf!

Read on for tips on wearing my three signature knots.

Add a splash of color with the fake knot. Long and centered on the chest, this classic knot breaks up the expanse of blah and creates a vibrant focal point. The fake knot is a great way to showcase trending colors and patterns...without having to spend on a whole new outfit. Wear it with solid color dresses or to jazz up your button-down and bottom work-uniform.

Dress: Max Studio (purchased on clearance from TJ Maxx for under $20!)
Scarf: Mantero (a gift from my mom)
Belt: Lauren Ralph Lauren, $50, similar here
Shoes: Report, $100, link here

The bow tie is a great way to add a little borrowed-from-the-boys to your look. Masculine-feminine is perpetually trending, and it's not hard to see why. In general, pairing opposites adds interest...the bow tie can be that little bit of dissonance that takes your look from predictable to stylish. Add it to your suit or even to a collared shirt layered under a shift dress.

The French knot is probably the direct opposite of the bow tie, as it's a sure fire way to add feminine flair to any look. Use the French knot to add a lady-like detail to your sport look. It's the perfect flirty accent with this season's figure-hiding boxy coats.
