beaded bracelets bracelet charity charity donations give back latin america charities orphan children charity the orphaned earring

THE ORPHANED EARRING

January 29, 2014
Hi guys, today I want to bring something a little different to you... something a little heart warming on these very cold winter days. Last year I came across an amazing charity called The Orphaned Earring. It caught my attention from the start because Denisse Montalvan, the founder of the charity has devoted herself selflessly to this sweet cause and it is changing the lives of kids all around Latin America. The Orphaned Earring helps orphaned children have a better life and education through the making of beaded bracelets. Here is how it works; you donate your "orphaned earring" you know those earrings that we have lost the pair to and no longer need or will ever use - as well as other unwanted jewelry, you send it to the charity and Denisse and her team take the time to take everything apart and create beautiful beaded bracelets that they sell at just $10 in order to raise funds for education for orphans in countries like Guatemala, El Salvador, Mexico among others in Latin America. Now how sweet and selfless is that?

Not only do they help with education but also with events for the children for the holiday season as well and most a Quinceanera were The Orphaned Earring was able to make 6 beautiful young ladies smile by having a Quince for them all with the help of donations and sponsors, this was in Mexico. Lola Blue was happy to donate the girls' earrings that they were on their special day. They looked stunning!

The picture above is a bunch of jewelry I no longer wanted some of it still in good shape. And Denisse was so gracious to send me a photo of it all. I am writing this post in hopes of getting YOU to participate. It is so easy and all you have to do it grab those pieces you no longer want and have no use for; send it to:
The Orphaned Earring
P.O. Box 1565
Hawthorne, CA 90251
... and help change the live of an orphaned child. Not only will it make you feel amazing but it will help the child have an opportunity at better education and also bring a smile to their face. If you don't have anything to send, you may also simply purchase a beautiful $10 bracelet and help them that way.
Please take a moment to visit The Orphaned Earring and make your donation in anyway you can.

GRAMMY'S BEST AND WORST DRESSED

January 28, 2014
The Grammy's this year were filled with gold, metallics, embellishments and stunningly detailed gowns. I wanted to list some of my favorites and my least favorites. Let's start off with Beyonce, she wore a white lace Michael Costella Couture gown that made mouths drop every where. Her body first of all is ah-mazing and this dress was heaven on her. I loved it and I think only she could wear something like this.
Best Dressed
Christie Teigen wore a sexy sequined low cut stunning gown by Johanna Johnson.
Ciara was glowing showing off her baby bump in a detailed embellished Emilio Pucci dress.
Taylor swift wowed me in this Gucci gown that she confessed weighted a ton but looked like perfection.

Worst Dressed
I love me some Katy Perry but this Valentino gown I did not like at all. It was pulled from the runway which is pretty fab but this did not look fabulous at all and that princess hair was not flattering on her. She could've done better in my opinion.
Paula Patton in this Zebra sequin gown with lion neck - hot mess from the hair to the dress, I did not like this at all. She is such a stunning woman but this dress was not flattering at all.

So there you have it my friends, my best and worst dressed from this year's Grammy's. The show was awesome so many amazing performances and highlights. I really enjoyed the entire show.

HOW TO WEAR A BRIGHT BLAZER FOR WINTER

January 23, 2014

Brights can be a little tricky for winter but I say why not, especially on gray and gloomy days like the ones we've been having. For me a bright blazer can change my mood. So I decided to wear this yellow blazer from Zara with a super basic outfit and add a colorful necklace to add a little sass. And added a neutral color shoes as to not overwhelm the outfit. Notice I am wearing a basic white tee - which is my favorite under a blazer these days! Easy and comfortable.
--------

THE BEST BOYFRIEND JEANS

January 21, 2014
Hey dolls! Today we are getting a whole new polar vortex, horrible for bloggers and businesses alike! It ruins everything. It will be so cold and we will also get snow, so I apologize in advance for the lack of outfit pics. Thankfully I was able to snap a couple pics this weekend when the weather was much warmer. I am obsessed with boyfriend jeans and pointy high heels! The looks is super chic and way too cool for school in my book. Simple, comfortable and fabulous! Top it with a cute beanie like I did and voila!
-----------
Hola chicas!

WHAT TO WEAR: DRESS UP YOUR TEE!

January 16, 2014
If you know me by now you know I love comfortable but chic outfits, which was the case with this look. Color Latina sent me this tee which I super loved and instead of wearing it with just a jean a sweater (boring!) I decided to spice it up a little by wearing my staple piece: a blazer! And add a fab factor with some fab shoes! Still super simple but still fab. What do you guys think? I love an easy breezy look.
------

{SPARKLE + SEQUINS} FOR A HAPPY WOO YEAR!

January 15, 2014

Over the weekend, my friends and I finally had our Christmas gift exchange. It is a total of 9 girls and we were all just so busy that we didn't have time to do it in December but it worked out great and I loved this year's theme "Happy Woo Year" a glittery, sequin-y, sparkly look was the dress code of the day. So as usual, I had no idea what I would wear until last minute. I found this gorg little silver sequin hat I've had for the longest and then put together this look in pretty much 5 minutes. I loved it because it was fun and super girly. The sequin graphic "bang" sweatshirt added a little bit of casual and I decided to mix gold and silver for fun! We had such a great time as always, I love my friends! Woo + cheers to another fab year!
--------

THE LONG CARDIGAN

January 14, 2014

Happy Tuesday you guys! I had a great weekend, so good that I wasn't even able to prepare this post for Monday. So here it is today... I bought this cute long cardigan at H&M over the Christmas sales, I feel in love with it as soon as I saw it. It is light and so chic I immediately grabbed it. I see myself wearing this a lot. But here is it with an all black ensemble. Leather pants are still super trendy right now and I couldn't love them more. Add a little cute wool fedora like mine an a couple of accessories and you are ready to go!
------
Feliz martes a todas!

WINTER SALES: NEUTRAL CHIC with TARGET

January 11, 2014
I am obsessed with all things neutral right now. It is my new black. I want to wear solids all day, every day, you guys! And as I was doing some research on winter sales I came across a ton of fab pieces from Target. Now I think it is safe to say every time any of us enter then popular all-in-one store we come out with more than just a gallon of milk or a pack of diapers... at least that is my case every.single.time. Since in the fashion world we are already into spring/summer 2014 some of these amazing finds are on super sale ranging for $11.24 for that adorable gold glitter belt to this amazing faux fur collar coat for just $34.98. I had to get the metallic laser cut oxfords, I think they scream chic-and-fabulous! I am dying for them to get to me.

Neutrals are my go to pieces when shopping not only because they are elegant and chic but because they are a great way to save your self some bucks... you can wear solid pieces over and over by simply accessorizing differently every time. For me, being a fashionista on a budget, it has worked in helping me recreate pieces without breaking the back, yet still feeling pretty fab. Add a cute blazer or gorg statement necklace to any of these and instantly revamp your look. I want all of these pieces too bad they are not all available online because that only means I have to head to my nearest Target ;) Oh the struggle! Happy Saturday!
------------------

BOTTOMLESS CLOSET CHARITY EVENT

January 10, 2014
Caroline of Caroline Burn Beauty | Melissa of Super Glam News| Dana + Jessica of Daily Fashionista

Blogging for me has been filled with pretty amazing opportunities that I never even dreamed about 2 years ago. It's been tons of fun; you get to attend some fab events, receive some great perks, meet cool people, brand campaigns and possibly even film TV segments. It is a lot more work than people think but so rewarding and satisfying... But none of these have made me feel as grateful and inspired as last night's event. Dana Prigge from Daily Fashionista invited me to attend Bottomless Closet's Charity Event last night, hosted by celebrity stylist Derek Warburton. We got to meet about 50 women from all walks of life. Some are homeless living in shelters, others have been abused, a few haven't had a job in years... but one thing they all had in common was their smiles and hopeful positive attitudes. What I was most inspired by was their ability to see through all the sad and difficult circumstances and have the dream and hope to better themselves. Bottomless Closet helps them get back on their feet by providing clothes for interviews as well helps them build their self esteem through workshops. It is a very powerful organization that truly helps change the lives of women in need. And I am so touched by this amazing charity.

I was very touched by their stories, even shed a few tears listening to them... but they remain so strong. They truly inspired me to be a better person and simply gave me a sense of humility and reminded me to be grateful for what I have and to cherish more and complain less. Their smiles and cheerful energy lit up the room. It was truly a life changing experience not just for me but I would say for all of us in attendance last night. I truly hope I made a little difference in their lives because it made a huge difference in mine. It was such a great experience and I am so glad I attended. I can't thank you enough Dana and Derek and I can't wait to volunteer again.

Here I am helping Jacqueline choose her pieces. She was really into jackets and she took home two fabulous jackets including this brown textured one. Such a sweet lady, good luck in your new job!

All of us with Derek sporting huge smiles after a rewarding + successful night!

REVIEW WITH HAIR COLOR EXPERT MICHELLE FERREIRA

January 7, 2014

Hi Guys! It has been a frigid few days here in the East Coast. So cold, that I have zero outfit photos for you guys today. But I am so happy to share this hair review with you all. If you know me, or if you follow me on Insta you know I barely ever have my hair fully done. I may be very girly and into fashion but I am not into hair at all. I always just wash, air dry and go. Only when I have events I will make the effort and curl it with my wand and that's as far as I go with hair. It is just way too long and too thick to spend hours on it myself.

Two years I did my first ombre and I loved it so much I kept it for a while but that included many different shades to come through on my hair and though I did like it I got tired of it. So I decided to color my hair all one color and start over. That's when I called my girl and color expert Michelle Ferreira from Regis Salon in Hoboken. I explained to her exactly what I wanted. I wanted to get rid of my 315 shades of browns. I was a little nervous that it wouldn't be what I wanted in the end but I am extremely pleased with the results.

Michelle did my first ombre and she is truly so passionate about what she does and she should be, she is amazing. She gets so into her art that it so pleasing to see her pay full attention to your needs. Hair to a women is so important so we should always go to someone we trust and admire. I truly believe hair coloring is an art. And not everyone gets it right. Every time I have requested a certain color she has delivered to exactly what I've wanted. I would definitely recommend her services to any of you, especially if you live in the Hoboken area. All her info is on her card below. Here is my color change.... hope you love!

And take a look at her fabulous ombre, it looks even more amazing in person. For anyone looking to have an ombre done, don't hesitate. She uses a very different and precise process to get the color just right and show a true fading of the shades of blonde, unlike some other salons that leave you looking with too much contrast.
And here I am with the end result, a one shade all brown and natural tone. I am so happy to have one color now. I will keep this for a few months and start over with a fun and sweet lighter look in the Spring. It is a new year and time to get my hair healthy and fabulous...
I hope you guys enjoyed this post.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me or Michelle directly, here is her info.
